Black and White:
When shooting in black and white, think in black and white. Consider the contrast that will be in effect once you add the black and white filter.
Rule of Thirds:
Photo should be split into 9 equal parts; two equally spaced lines and two equally spaced vertical lines. Important parts of picture should intersect with these "third" lines at some point
